Maryland does not have "grand" larceny in the tradition sense (where there are two levels of theft). Rather, it now has 5 levels. The amount you mentioned is "Theft of at least $1,000 but less than $10,000." It is a Felony, and can be punished by imprisonment not exceeding 10 years or a fine not exceeding $10,000 or both. There is no minimum sentence.

it is probably a mandatory year and a day in jail and a 25,000 or 50,000 fine i think it has to be over 5000 for it to be a felony but if i were the one to make the laws i'd have their hands cut off so they couldn't do it again
