The song "We are the World" was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. It was co-produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian. The chorus consisted of 23 artists and the Solo artists were as follows: Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Cyndi Lauper, Kim Carnes, Huey Lewis, Bob Dylan, Daryl Hall, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springstein, Steve Perry and Ray Charles.
The idea came from Harry Belafonte - he wanted to do something special for Humanitarian aid - for African famine relief - what a great idea! It was/still is a very beautiful song - one we should all hear and be inspired by. Good job, everyone!Source(s): I always use www.goodsearch.com when I need a search-engine because this one allows me to SUPPORT my schools or favorite charities when I do each search. However, this information came from www.wikipedia.com once I searched the info from www.goodsearch.com -- lots of other detailed info!
