If god has a divine plan, why bother praying?

Seems like a waste of time to me if he's going to do what he wants to anyway.

Do not forget that praying is not all about trying to change gods plan, its a way of talking to God about your day or your problems and asking for help. Also, don't forget, that even if you think the plan for your life is not going well, or how you want it to go, God has a plan for everyone and although it does not seem that way, God knows which way he wants you to go and you can ask him for guidance in his plan.

    Thanks

Prayer isn't meant to be a "letter to Santa" kinda thing (I want this and this, and bless me for this, and help them ect.) it's communication with God. Why do we pray? I pray to know God better, to spend time with the creator of the universe, to grow spiritually. Yes he has a plan, but perhaps asking for something has nothing to do with convincing God to let you obtain whatever you are asking for, perhaps its a way to train your heart and your mind to want the right things. If I pray for a car...and God does not "give me" a car...maybe I should focus more on asking God for patience so that I can work towards buying a car.

As I understand it, God won't move for you unless you take that first step, whether it's in action or in prayer. He wants you to work with him. God is interested in you and longs for you to love him and talk to him. Also prayer is about transforming you. God works in your personality, if you are having difficulty with a certain problem, praying and casting off your cares on God will relieve you from anxiety. You will experience peace. Prayer is much about getting closer to God. He will grant your requests at times, and others not. Prayer is a means of strengthening you. :)

Well God's plan is that we pray, so in His divine plan He not only decrees what will happen but also the process and that is where prayer comes in.

Prayer makes the fear mongers feel like they're helping, when they're actually doing nothing at all.

Should we donate a thousand prayers to the children of somalia, or a thousand dollars? Which would do more good?
