Here's the history of Save the Children, taken from the Australian website:

"At the beginning of the 20th century, two sisters (Dorothy and Eglantyne Jebb) saw around them that the building blocks of life were being denied to thousands of children throughout war-torn Europe. They had a vision to repair and restore those building blocks and ensure every child’s right to health, education and protection were achieved. Their vision has survived into the second decade of the 21st century and improved the lives of millions of children.

Save the Children is the world’s largest independent child rights development organisation, making a difference to children’s lives in more than 120 countries. From emergency relief to long-term development, Save the Children works to secure a child’s right to health, education and protection. "

I believe it's the Australian arm of Save the Children International.

Ninety years ago one woman, Eglantyne Jebb an Oxford-educated teacher and sociologist, started a worldwide movement.

She was driven by the belief that all children - whoever they are, wherever they are - have the right to a healthy, happy, fulfilling life. And the belief that change is within reach

    - if we have courage, determination, imagination and good organisation.
