Windows defender is definitely NOT enough protection for your computer.

At a minimum, a comprehensive anti-virus suite and a firewall at the very minimum.

Do you surf the internet a lot? Then you should have a hard ware and software firewall installed-(I.E. a hardware fire wall) in the form of a router or switch that prevents intrusion into your operating system and PC and a soft ware based firewall, such as windows firewall or a purpose made firewall such as Zone alarm or one that is bundled into a Internet security suite Like Norton Internet security or Kapersky's Internet security 2011.

be careful though you cannot run windows firewall and another firewall, the will conflict with each other and cause issues.

Windows Defender on Windows 8 is Microsoft Security Essentials, which is still not good. Just because Windows 8 is a new Operating System does not mean it is immune to viruses, no OS is perfect. Pick one of these antiviruses (ONE) Avira Antivir BitDefender Kapersky Avast! Antivirus A Anti-Malware will help as extra protection for your computer if your antivirus misses it: (Pick one) Malwarebytes SUPERAntispyware Spybot Search And Destroy Third-party firewall with HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention System) will be nice as well. COMODO Firewall Make sure to keep your Operating System up to date, do the same for your security software. Pop-Up and adblocker: Adblock for Chrome, FireFox, Safari, and Opera (Other browsers too) -Elian Sorry it is long, I like to keep the text organized.

Windows Defender only has a 60% detection rate...horrible....Uninstall or delete it.....Download and install these 2 FREE programs in its place....

No. Get Microsoft security essentials and a decent firewall ( comodo's for example).
