why does steam require you to download games you already bought in a cd?

for example modern warfare 2, saints row 2, counter strike etc. btw steam sucks cus its not compatible with windows 7

    You can install games from CD on steam.

    1. Close steam (Shut it down)

    2. Press the windows key and R to bring up the run window.

    3. In the Run window type:

    C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install D:

    Replace D: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from.

    Replace C:\Program Files\Steam with your Steam installation path. If you haven't installed steam in the default directory.

    4. Press OK. It will install from DVD.

    Regarding the comment you made 'Steam isn't compatible with Win 7' I'm sorry but whoever told you this is a moron. Steam IS compatible with Win 7.
