I have always been a big John Cena fan and I think he deserves a lot of respect for what he does and how he carries himself. Some people hate on Cena to bandwagon and because he might have a limited moveset. But one thing about Cena is he has great ability to portray a character and sell it no matter what. On RAW, John Cena sold his character to every person in that arena and for that Cena deserves so much respect.
From the start, I found his speech actually quite emotional. I know that it is a work and a storyline, but as I said in another question, it totally put me in two minds. I can understand why this angle is happening.. To boost Wade Barrett as a heel. And even to give a reason for Cena taking a break. From how I see things, Cena seems to put in more time than any other. Cena is always doing signings and all these make a wish events. Cena is the face of WWE and he devotes his time and his whole life to that company. Cena probably rarely ever went home. Like he can't do the normal things you and me do, like go away on vacation for the weekend. Or just go out with your friends and family on a regular basis. Because Cena, being the face of the WWE, the company occupies so much of his life. And considering cena recently married and as he stated he has family committments with his mother and brother, Cena taking a break seems on the cards.
But then again I was thinking, no this is a total work because WWE wouldn't fire their biggest face, nor allow him a lengthy break because imo he draws more money than any other superstar.
I have watched WWE for a long time and I even fell into that thing of disbelief and not knowing whether it was really all a work or actually legit. John Cena sold it so well and acted the part perfectly. It was a great segment and a phenomenal promo from Raw's biggest player. I also have a lot of respect for Cena because he knows what fans think. Like Cena ain't stupid. When he did the chant bit. All women and kids shout let's go Cena and all guys chant Cena sucks. Cena is just a down to earth guy who knows and accepts that people don't like him. But he takes it on the chin, smiles and gets on with it. Cena never complains he just gets on with it, thats why love him or hate him he's one of the best of all time. To answer your Q his speech was one of the best promo segments I've seen. Cena sold it very well and had a joke with the fans. It was a great moment on a great show.
BQ1: I am shocked, purely because he did it on Raw. I honestly thought he was going to cash in on Survivor Series after Cena beat down Wade. So on Raw, when I heard I CAME TO PLAY, I was semi shocked, then just pumped. I'm a big Miz fan. He's got the talk and he's learning so much each week in ring, he's just getting better all the time. People said he would never make it, but Miz made it. Now Raw is rated Awesome and I'm all for it. I can't see him being a really lengthy champion. My guesstimate was he would retain successfully at TLC, then maybe lose at the Royal Rumble. It then wouldn't surprise me if he blagged his way into the Rumble and won it. BUT even so, I don't see Miz entering Mania with the WWE title, and I also cannot see him winning it at Mania. However, I hope the kid main events Wrestlemania.
BQ2: Yes. CM Punk is actually a pretty funny guy. Having him on commentary will just be music to my ears, I love it!
BQ3: YES, yes yes yes! If CM Punk was the Raw GM that would be awesome and he could totally abuse the power and make himself the WWE Champion, lol. It;s very unlikely, but it'd be cool if Punk was the GM. A reasonable Gm to me would be Stephanie McMahon.
