A general guideline is to allow ¾ to 1 pound of uncooked turkey (of course you will cook it before you serve it to your guest) per person allowing for moderate leftovers. Thus a 14lb butterball turkey will feed 14 to 18 people.

No way will a 14 lb turkey feed 14 to 18 people.

First off the the 14 lb turkey will be less then 12 lbs after it's cooked( 20% shrinkage).

Then a turkey is half bones. So you will remain with roughly 6 lbs of meat and that's including dark meat.

A 14 lb turkey is for 10 people or less.

This chart is much closer to reality if you want leftovers. Turkeys shrink quite a bit and many people do not like dark meat. So you need a big breast.

YES, now you have it right!

    See the conversion?

Type in 10 adults on the Butterball site and you will see it calls for a 20lb Turkey( we cater all year and on Thanksgiving we cook 100+ turkeys in our store).

    Now you got it-:)

Thumbs up.( now change the 3/4 to 1lb to

    1 1/2 to 2 lbs.

It's Thanksgiving. People want to eat.

    People want leftovers...

It seems like a lot but after all is said and done, your happy you did the bigger bird.

About 7. Like otherwise stated take into account appetites and the bones in the bird. Plus you want leftovers and you wont have much even with a 14 lb bird feeding 7

Depends on how well you cooked it :) And how many sides, but figure 1.5 lbs per person uncooked when thinking bone in poultry. I'm Italian turkey is a side dish here on a holiday.
