Percocet is actually very similar to Oxycontin with some small differences.
Lets start with Oxycontin. Oxycontin is the name brand for Oxycodone...which is an opioid analgesic medication...a semi-synthetic opioids similar to morphine and codeine.
Percocect is a name brand pain killer made by Endo Pharmaceuticals' . It is actually a combination of oxycodone and acetaminophen in one tablets. It has a higher pain killer effect as Oxycodone.
So both drugs give you the same kind of "high"...depending on the dose of drug. The reason people choose percocet over oxycontin is because percocet cuts the side effects of a morphine like medication (so lower amount of oxycodone) and adds acetaminophen (Tylenol) to make up the pain killing effect. The same does of Oxycontin may give u a more of a "high" however.
The "high" is usually caused by the oxycodone alone....acetaminophen (Tylenol) does not produce any sort of narcotic "high" that people feel when taking morphine.
The "high" is not similar to weed...but is more similar to morphine and heroin (which are both part of the opiates family, however heroin is much more potent).
Illicit use of percocect and oxycontin can be dangerous since its not prescribed in the right dose. Side effects can also be very unpleasant.

Percocet is a brand name for a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone. Oxycontin is a slow release form of oxycodone. So no, Percocet is not the same as Oxycontin. It is not heroin.Yes you do have to be careful, it is addictive.
