Is your laptop IP address the same as desktop?

I just bought an ASUS laptop. I'm wondering, when I log into the internet with my new laptop, is my IP address on the laptop the same IP as the one I'm on with my desktop computer or is the laptop IP different than my desktop IP? thanks

It sounds like you're using both on the Internet, which means you're probably using a router. In that case, the two will have different internal IP addresses. However, they will still both show the same IP address to other websites, and connecting to your machine outside the network uses the same external IP address.

If your laptop is in same network with your desktop then you will have same external or WAN IP address. You can easily test it by visiting IP trackers from both of your PC:

You will directly know what is set as internal IP address on your machines (it will be different) and what is set as external IP address (will be same).

Yes, your IP address is provided by your internet provider. As long as your on the same network you will have the same IP address.

it depends on your internet service provider (ISP) and the settings of your modem.

there is an option called network address translation (NAT), when this option is enabled your ISP will assign one IP address to you, and if it is turned off then every single computer connects to the modem will have it's own IP address "and that depends on your subscription with your ISP, because some ISP's don't allow multiple computers on the same subscription, or charge a fee for it"
