Ordering food in a restaurant.
OK. If you get the menu del día (daily special) you usually get a choice between rice, spaghetti, or a soup (cream of mushroom, consome, vegetable soup and Aztec soup or tortilla soup are common), the main course can be a steak, chicken enchiladas ( red or green), or maybe fish. Each main course is usually accompanied by a small green salad and maybe beans. Dessert could be a choice of banas with cream or gelatin. usually a glass of !agaua de sabor" or "agua fresca"( limeade, orangeade, iced hibiscus flower tea, mangoade, melon water or something similar) is included in the price and the customer might choose between dinner rolls (telera or bolillo) and corn tortillas.
This daily special is variously called menu del día, comida corrida, or menu ejecutivo depending on the restaurant. Alos depending on the restaurant and the area the price can range from $30 pesos to $120 pesos. Many middle class Mexicans who eat out during the work day eat a meal of this sort because it is usually more economic than eating ala carte which could cost twice as much.
