    Not necessarily, but they should abstain from voting on bills that directly affect their businesses.

    John Heinz, great-grandson of the founder of Heinz Foods, was a Senator until his death in 1992.

    His family still owns the business.

    No. If that were the case, all the members of the House n' Senate, that have a law degree, would have to surrender their law license until they were no longer in elected office.

    no. They do, however, have to put into a blind trust any assets which my be affected by any committee membership they may have.
