    Hope is Spes.

A good word for perseverance is Fortitudo (strength to endure).

    There are other possibilities.

"spes" meaning: Hope. Feminine. Fifth declension.

    singular:

    nominative spes

    genitive spei

    dative spei

    accusative spem

    ablative spe

    plural

    nominative spes

    genitive sperum

    dative spebus

    accusative spes

    ablative spebus

Perseverance is tricky, "to persevere" as a verb, comes from the verb "servare" to hold or keep, with a prefix added to it 'per-', to intensify the meaning. "perservare" means "to preserve".

Romans would likely have used another word, like "victoria" (victory) or said something about 'standing strong' despite bad odds etc.

    Hope this helps.
