Why isn't there an IQ restriction on public office?

They have age requirements for a lot of elected positions because they believe maturity is important. Makes sense to me. So how come there are know requirements on intelligence?

    That wouldn't do anything to change the quality of those who win elections because there still wouldn't be an IQ requirement on voters...it's stupid people who elect the officeholders we get.

    And that's how it should be. Stupid people have rights too by god! :)

    Boxer ,Pelosi , Kerry and Gore would not be elected .

    Then there would be no republican party or tea party.
