My Pro Tools 8 Mic isn't working?

This thing my mom got for me for my birthday ($650), the god damn mic doesn't work! How do i hook it up?

What type of mic is it? Pro tools doesn't make mics. Chances are your mic needs "phantom power" to make it work (think of it like a lightbulb that needs electricity to turn on). There's probably a button on your Pro Tools interface that says +48V. Plug in your mic first, then press this button.
