How many jobs lost if the US stops offshore drilling?

I need a specific statistic for the number of jobs lost from offshore drilling. This is for forensics, and this is for the resolution of: Allowing offshore deep water drilling is in the US best interest. Any other statistic including how much is oil is underwater and why that's preferable to other drilling methods, would be highly appreciated.

Update:

How many people would loose their jobs if the US stopped offshore deep water drilling, in the US, duh

Update 2:

Does anyone have a specific web address?

Update 3:

OK, let me inform you. The US is currently offshore deep water drilling. I am not talking about the gulf of mexico, and the Bp accident.

Deep sea drilling isn't that common.

How many full-timers does it take to operate a rig?

    20?

For example, the brief moratorium on deep sea drilling in the gulf only affected 33 rigs.

"There is no evidence of declining employment after the moratorium was announced," the report said.

There are several sites set up by the petroleum industry that discuss just that. Just google something like "impact of offshore drilling" and you'll find them.

That's an important question regarding how many more will come under dependance of the government, until of course their unemployment runs out, then they are cut loose and nada personna in the eyes of the US government.

Quite a bit, and the cost of gasoline would rise.

We need to balance between harvesting natural resources and any perceived "harm" done to the environment.
