True and we call that progressing, moving forward. I laugh when I hear those terms. We are not moving forward at all, we have degenerated into a society of victims. When you are at the edge of a cliff, it is not a good idea to move forward, you might want to back up and take a different course, but alas, we still have people that want to progress no matter how long the fall is.

Yes things were much simpler back then but that generation wasn't filled with radicals and freeloaders like today everyone paid their own way and weren't filled with hate like today, Even the government was different unlike the fools that are there now but the big question is can we return to those happy days? Who knows for sure but taking control of the congress from the democrats was a good start, re-electing Dirty Harry was not. We can move to getting it right again in 2012 by removing the jerkoffs that we missed last time and certainly dumping that socialist clown pretending to be an American President. Yes We Will..

Source(s): Obama was elected to sove the Problems but instead has become the real problem and must be removed,,,,

VERY STUPID... but we cant blame this on the older generation... I just saw on the news this AM.. I forget where it took place but , an 8 yr old boy had a falling out with his teacher, and I guess he pushed her.... make a long story short, hes taken away in hand cuffs and , they take him to a psychiatric hospital... mom didn't know anything about it ... till she got the call..... How long do we let this kind of stuff go on? Yrs ago, the kid would have been sent to the principal, parents called... conference... and it would be decided the out come between parents and principal... The teacher was the one that called the cops.... I personally think they have given teachers too many rights.... Id sue the school board if I was the mother of that child..

Good point. How about this? In 1957 High School Principals list the top three problems they have to deal with as: Running in the Hallways, Tardiness and Chewing Gum. In 2010 High School Principals list the top three problems they have to deal with as: Drug Abuse, Gang Violence and Teen Pregnancy.

How far have we fallen? When did this all begin? Well, as an old timer who was there, it began to decline after the Supreme Court outlawed prayer in school and the decline really accelerated after Jimmy Carter formed the Federal Department of Education. The more Federal Bureaucrats have insinuated themselves in public education the worse it has gotten.

The stories about school years are far different from the 50's than from the children of today. Even these kids look to the law to protect them from being disciplined by their parents. Interestingly the laws about teachers touching students has led to many older teachers retiring. Kids are taught that their parents are stupid and old fashioned, polluters of the earth and unreasonable in their attitude concerning sex, violence, alternative life styles, and ethnicity. To them love means recycling and peer approval.

They never learn to deal with adversity because adversity isn't peaceful. Having an opinion is akin to bullying. We are raising drones who think they are hip and teaching them that drugs are the answer to too much energy, puberty, and the confusion that accompanies growing up. They equate rights and freedom with legalized abortion and marijuana. Is it any wonder we hear about young people calling the police because McDonald's messed up their order? It brings tears to my eyes.

    Hi Ralph

The really sad thing in all of this is how big business and money is so tied up in our day-to-day activities.

We are all affected by the compensation culture. All madness.

    Best wishes.

What about the Chestnut that happened in Northern Ireland.

A child forgot his/her money to buy biscuits.A kind assistant gives boy/girl a biscuit.

Result. Assistant is 'hauled over the coals' and accused of grooming.

Yes!It would be hilarious; If it was not so serious.

Yes. It is idiocy and anyone with a brain can see it.

I sometimes thinks the nation/world has been brainwashed. Up is down and wrong is right. And who suffers the most? Our children.

    And the beat goes on.....

Sad, but true. My sons' school just opened a hotline to report kids who are "verbally abusive" outside of school too. Like that's any of their business. I tell my boys if someone makes fun of you, suck it up and move on. If someone hits you, knock 'em flat, mommy will let you watch movies while you're suspended.
