Is it true that more country singers write their own songs than singers of other genres?

There is a music sub-genre called "Singer/songwriters", (which includes artists from assorted genres), such as Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Mickey Newbury, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Tom Rush, Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton, Steve Goodman, Arlo Guthrie, Paul Simon, Neil Young, John Denver, Jackson Browne, John Prine, Charles David Sharp, Dave Mason, Jim Croce, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, David Crosby, Leonard Cohen, Donovan, Randy Newman, Ian Tyson, Gordon Lightfoot, Sylvia Tyson, Nick Drake, Carly Simon, Cat Stevens, Bruce Cockburn, Harry Chapin, James Taylor, Jerry Jeff Walker, Dan Fogelberg and Dolly Parton.
Also to be included are such as Billy Joel, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Mark Heard, Lucinda Williams, Patti Smith, Kate Bush, Rickie Lee Jones, Stevie Nicks, Cheryl Wheeler and Warren Zevon. Also Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, and Pete Seeger.
The list is much greater than this, as it would also include artists from all over the world, so it would by far exceed the list of Country. See the Wikipedia page (link below).

Simplest way is to go to a printed reference publication or easier to go to a music industry ballot for awards where it lists the authors or songwriters of songs. This way you will see who the songwriters are don't you think?
Remember country songs have been leased to Pop artists like Whitney Houston and Rap plus other artists to re release as music. Remember FYI music is an inheritable piece of intellectual property protected by federal copyright laws. Like real estate you can find out the builder of the home if you do some research in the permits for building...this might help you answer such a question as songwriters do not only write one type of music like professional musicians don't play one type of music and talented singing artists can sing a gamut of styles too. It's production of products (music) that is sold to consumers after the PR (marketing) draws them in that direction which ever style of music it may be. Simple. Factual by research. Hope this helps clear things up!Source(s): Professional industry Grammy voting member for CJP-NHRecords, Inc.

id say the majority of country AND rock singers/bands, write their own songs. compared to all those stupid rappers and pop singers who, most of the time, have people writing for them.

I can't understand your southern-butchered english language but maybe. If you consider them "songs". It's all the same anyway.
