DVD only has a 480P video resolution, while HDTV has a 720P resolution and some has a 1080P resolution (Full HD). Your tv will only display the max resolution of the source it is being feed in. The HDTV has a better picture quality than that of the DVD. Hope this will help you out.

HDTV should have higher resolution as long as the program is shot in HD. You might not see any difference between a DVD and an older movie presented in HD but not actually shot in HD.

Aunsoft DVD Ripper is also a great DVD Editor, which could let you easily cut DVD clips to select wanted content for converting and then merge desired DVD clips into only one, add text/image/video watermark to protect the DVD copyright, crop DVD black edges to fill in the full screen, adjust brightness/contrast/saturation to get more comfortable visual effect and so on.
