    (To Putnam, on page 50 in my version of the play): "Oh? And thou does not know of my escapades with your horses and your livestock? I take it you know not of my deviant acts with your sheep? Well 'tis true! 'Tis true! Know now, and subscribe it to memory."

    The quote above shows that Proctor is honest even about the incident with the sheep, which it would be in his best interests to conceal.
