Initially, Erin Brockovich wasn't taken seriously by her boss, her fellow female co-workers, and other people that she encountered because of her provocative style of dress, i.e, the low, plunging neck lines, short skirts, tight jeans, etc., and the fact that she had been married three times with three, young children (with differing fathers) in tow. Her projected image to the public was considered poor, by many.
Erin Brokovich was instrumental in bringing to light the serious problem of water contamination in the small town of Hinkley. She began the legal fight against the US West Coast energy corporation Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). Without her persistence, the affected residents of the town would not have received a huge monetary settlement to offset their health-related problems, their inability to sell their homes, etc.
