It’s number of active users Facebook has grown to some 500 million in July 2010. The increase is twice fold compared to exactly a year ago.
In March this year, Facebook also took over search engine Google to become the most visited website, although these two websites are of two different categories.
In August, research firm comScore also revealed a research finding that web users now spend longer time on Facebook than Google and Yahoo.
The micro-blogging platform saw a traffic surge of close to 1000% between February 2008 and February 2009 As of April 2010, Twitter users were signing up at the rate of 300,000 daily and the site had over 105 million registered users.
In only four months, Twitter had surpassed MySpace in unique visitors to become the third social networking site, registering 370,000 new accounts a day.
It now has some 125 million users but with decreasing traffic. In fact report has it that the former social networking giant’s traffic has dropped so much that it cost owner News Corp about $100 million!
