Faster to Detective or SWAT, LAPD or LASD?

    LAPD, generally.

    Obviously it depends on the individual officer, however LASD puts almost all new officers into the Jails for a period of time. The time a new officer spends in the jail, depends on performance, which stations they apply to, and how many officers are hired "behind" them (to fill positions in the jail.) Its not unheard of for LASD deputies to spend 3-5 years working the jail before going to patrol school.

    Basically LASD just has an extra step between newly hired, and promotions.
