If the Bible is "The Word of God", why are there so many denominations that interpret those words differently?

hey, old man, it's been over 2,000 years, cut us a break and bask in the glow of the amazement we actually have this crazy thing called Christianity to debate about. Bring it, babes, bring it! There is nothing more challenging to the soul than to bring love together against all odds.

I'd say the odds are incredibly stacked against us, ne?

Basically because many practice eisegesis rather than exegesis. Others just want validation and not truth. Some look for justification for what they want to practice. They gather teachers who will tickle their ears. With still others, it is a matter of: "I never would have seen it if I hadn't believed it [already]!" Many teach doctrines which find support, not in scripture but, rather, in paganism.

Still other professed Christians match the description found in Jesus' illustration at Matthew 13:24-43. This illustration is profound and its meaning is even more profound. Most people do not realize that Jesus prophesied long ago that there would be counterfeit Christians in among the true Christians. Have you ever seen a counterfeit bill? Amazingly, it looks like the real thing. Close examination, however, reveals its counterfeit characteristics. So it is with true Christianity. It ought to match what is found in the Bible. The Bible is the touchstone of Christianity and true Christianity is a pillar and support of the truth found in the Bible even as the apostle Paul told Timothy. And true Christians would speak in agreement, even as the apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian congregation. How can Christians be poles apart in teachings and behavior, disagree with each other, form literally thousands of denominations and yet be true followers of Christ? It is impossible.

When you look for an explanation for all these denominations, look to the people who are in them, not the Bible. If they do not match the teachings, doctrines and conduct in God's word, how can they possibly practice the Christianity they profess?

Only the Church, that is the Spiritually united with Christ, is One. The church that man has established based upon belief is subject to the many ideas and opinions of the ego/mind of man and not on the Spirit of God manifest in the hearts of man. They are two different realms of awareness. Also there are many paths to God. The Way is not physical but Spiritual and the mortal mind or ego/mind cannot understand that the many is One, the One are many. What we discern as many is really One. From the ego we cannot see clearly even if we try with all our might. They are two different realms of knowing. The seemingly many merge into One when we come close enough to the goal just as the route from Seattle and the route from Los Angeles become more and more similar as they approach New York City. When we arrive they become one and the same.

It has little to do with different interpretation but more to do with emphasis. Some denominations place emphasis on one thing and another denomination places emphasis on something else e.g. speaking in tongues, water baptism etc. All true Christians believe the bible to be the God's Word to man and Jesus to be our Saviour. All denominations place emphasis on those two and without them no-one will be saved.

There will be individual ministers and members in every denomination who do not truly believe but that does not make the denominations wrong, it simply means that some people (even some ministers) who call themselves Christians are not Christians.

You ever heard of a book thats from God, that converts scientists, atheists, explains evolution, aliens, womens wrights to divorce and marry who they choose, we will be forgiven when we ask for it, Jesus was a messenger and did not die on a cross, we must worship our creator for he gave us life and will take our soul at death, but there is only one God, He is the begining and the end. The book that teaches this, aswell as Adam & eve... Noah&the flood, abraham and the sacrifice, Moses and the savour out of slavery of the jews, Jesus the son of the virgin Mary, and Mohammed, the last messenger of them all, to get facts accross about the bible by the holy spirit of God, who could neither read nor write yet his followers that wrote what came to him COINCEDENTLEY wrote 75% of which the bible stilll consists of, the parts christians choose to ignore blindley, even though it is in their very own scriptures, they denie the truth for falshood, in order to gain the things in this life as they please. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world today, the second largest in the world and one of the most devoubt life changing religions also. And why? what is giving these people the couragment to go forth after such a long time of easyhood of this life, after taking drugs, sleeping around, getting drunk and doing foolish things, waisting time, what has given all these converts the faith to change their ways? GOD KNOWS.

The best place to hide a leaf is in a forest! Satan is not stupid as some think he is, he is a very powerful spirit person. He wants to be worshiped and most religions are doing just that.

They have God dishonoring doctrines that go into describing hell and making people think God is cruel and loves to torture people. Yet the only one saying that was Satan, Genesis 3rd chapter it tells where God says you will die and Satan says you will not die. Eve later said she was deceived.

He is still doing that to people. So it is up to us to find the truth religion in among all the false ones.

God told Adam, "for dust you are and to dust you will return" that is just one of many false doctrines.

The bible is the words that man put into god's mouth. Each one can interpret those words however they want.

Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why is a book by Bart D. Ehrman, a New Testament scholar at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The book introduces lay readers to the field of textual criticism of the Bible. Ehrman discusses a number of textual variants that resulted from intentional or accidental manuscript changes during the scriptorium era. Ehrman recounts his personal experience with the study of the Bible and textual criticism. He summarizes the history of textual criticism, from the works of Desiderius Erasmus to the present. The book describes an early Christian environment in which the books that would later compose the New Testament were copied by hand, mostly by Christian amateurs. Ehrman concludes that various early scribes altered the New Testament texts in order to deemphasize the role of women in the early church, to unify and harmonize the different portrayals of Jesus in the four gospels, and to oppose certain heresies (such as Adoptionism). Ehrman contends that certain widely-held Christian beliefs, such about the divinity of Jesus, are associated not with the original words of scripture but with these later alterations.
