Why are the drug free companies sponsered by the tobacco and alcohol indrustry?

They want you to think cigarettes and alcohol are just products. So they sponsor drug free companies and people see them as not evil corporate monsters for the cigarettes and alcohol.
btw They tried to sponsor e-cigarettes which are smokeless cigarettes, but the US Govt doesn't want e-cigarettes and the FDA claims they are medication devices and not cigarettes, so people can't smoke them instead of real cigarettes.

The tobacco and alcohol industries lost a lawsuit that required them to fund commercials that are against smoking and alcohol. It is of course all a joke.

Partly PR campaign, partly providing defense to themselves in case anyone says they're trying to destroy the moral fabric of society.
Take tobacco companies, for example. They have lost many multi-million dollar lawsuits from people that are seriously ill from smoking, and at one point, Joe Camel was being accused of making it seem cool and fun to smoke to children. Now if someone says "they're trying to get children to smoke," they can refute that claim by saying "no, we spend millions advertising to children that smoking isn't good for them."
