DD-214 is he an army ranger?

on a DD-214 box 2 it says Army/RA. is that Army Rangers or does the RA stand for Regular Army? box 14 shows Ranger Indoctrination program and Basic Airborne. But there are no tabs or decorations listed. Also would an E3 paygrade be appropriate.

Thanks

    RA is regular army

if he passed RIP then yes he was a ranger since he would have gone strait to ranger regiment after passing.

you get the ranger tab for passing ranger school, not RIP/RASP. ranger school is a leadership school that has nothign to do with becoming a ranger

if he got out a while ago or ****** or got out early due to injury then yes e-3 would be appropriate.

    List Of Army Rangers

he was a Ranger, if it list ranger indoc, that means he passed.

look in block 7, that will list the last unit served in.

    2. How old is this DD-214

If it is old, then maybe E-3 is good

if it is newer, then E-3 would mean they were injured or kicked out

    3. Ignore the poster who said you have to have a Ranger tab and go to Ranger school to be a ranger.

    Thats false.

Ranger school is a leadership school, not a school that trains rangers.

The "RA" stands for Regular Army.

Completing RIP and Airborne school is not out of the ordinary. Unless it says that he is a graduate of Ranger School and the Ranger Tab is listed, then he is not a Ranger. The Ranger School maintains a list of graduates that goes back pretty far to help root out posers. You can call them at Fort Benning and they can help you further.

Nothing wrong with E3 as a paygrade - depends on how long he was in. Most Soldiers hit at least E4 before being discharged in today's Army.

RA simply means that he was Regular Army.

A Ranger Tab would be listed in section 11. And the mos would be 11b or similar. 11B is of course the INFANTRY.

NO he is not. RA was the designation used when I enlisted in 1959, to differentiate between the enlisted members and the draftees.

remember, and this is correct, cooks can be rangers.
