    Perhaps the IRS (internal revenue service) would have a listing of previous jobs as long as the applicant filed for taxes each year.

    not sure there are many options outside of the ones that you have already stated. however, many people who study history use it as a stepping stone to get into law degree faculties. so in that case, indirectly, it may be useful for law. personally, i think it is just a great thing to have for personal development of one's understanding of their world. but no one pays you for a more informed outlook on life.
