Comparing two paintings?

For a class I must compare two pieces of art. They must be two well known pieces and need to relate to my life. Since i love animals I wanted to do two paintings of either dogs or cats to compare. Do any of you know of any famous pieces I could compare? They must be similar enough and different enough to write a paper on. They must also be famous enough for me to find 8-10 sources on them. Any ideas? I've been having a lot of trouble!!

I would suggest you search for Dogs Playing Poker by Cassius Coolidge. I would then compare this to Pom Pom Pon Po Pon Pon by Rene Magritte. The first has dogs (playing poker) and the second has rabbits (playing the drums).
