How is Green Day's Dookie Pop Punk?

It sounds amazing, and it sounds just like a Ramones album, now American Idiot was

pop punk but I don't get how dookie was pop punk. It was 100% punk to me..

Update:

Wikipedia, basically everybody.

Many people say it's Pop Punk because Green Day was apart of the California Punk movement in the 90's, alongside bands like Rancid and The Offspring.

It's not Punk the way The Sex Pistols were Punk, bit it's Punk.

In the '90s, Pop Punk referred to the fact that Green Day, Rancid, The Offspring hit a more popular high than The Ramones, The Sex Pistols and The Clash in THEIR day. It's all s**t, NOW!!

Dookie is a fine album but it was not a 100% punk album by any means.

Everyone labels things differently, although I think it's more punk than "pop punk"

I'm tired of this. You can call it punk, and we'll call it pop punk. No need to get so upset over labels.
