If it's an emergency and there is literally not enough food in your house for everyone, call 211 from your phone or a pay phone right now and tell them what is going on. They will let you know how you can get food for free right away so no one has to go hungry.

After you have taken care of the immediate need, you can apply to get assistance from the state for money to buy more food over time.

Your mom can also apply for unemployment benefits because she was laid off

In the meantime, here are some places that might be able to help if for some reason you cannot get in touch with 211.

    Some places are:

    Interfaith Hospitality Network

    500 W. Van Buren

    Las Vegas, NV

    (702) 638-8806

    Salvation Army

    1581 N Main St 649-8240

    North Las Vegas 651-9550

    Henderson 565-9578

    Las Vegas Rescue Mission

I am not recommending or endorsing any of those places, I just found them by doing an internet search so I don't know how good any of them are.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Yes the Satvation Army has one, Catholic Charities another, thru Three Square Food Bank

Also when she applies for unemployment she needs to apply for food stamps, assistance with utility bills, etc.

Go to your school counselor. Ask about discounted or free meals (breakfast and lunch). There is a form she will need to fill out for each one of you

I am so sorry to hear about your families situation. It unfortunately is a very common occurance now. First thing for her to do is apply for food stamps though they don't use them anymore. It is more like a credit card to use in the stores. Even if she is going to get unemployment she will probably qualifty for assistance in many ways including energy assistance. The help is there you just have to know where to get it. Please contact me and I will give you the phone number of who to call .. they will assist you in getting food now and in the future.
