How can you repair a Canon Pixus MP600 Printer which went bad and ordered to "install the correct print head"?

The printer had been in use for about four years when suddenly it went wrong. It stopped operating properly and instead displayed "The type of print head is incorrect. Install the correct print head." We changed all the ink cartridge with new ones but the display is still the same. Is there something that can be done with this kind of sudden defect?

I'm assuming that you took it out and gave it a clean and then put it back in?

If yes then after 4 years it might need replacing.

Printers are like anything. They work fine one minute and then the next that's it.
