How do I know it's working?

My daughter has eczema, baby acne and cradle cap. The doctor prescribed her the topical lotion Beta-Val. I started the Beta- Val lotion today with some Eucerin like that doctor said.
Her skin has been peeling and drying.
Does this mean it's working or I should stop using it?
How exactly do I know this treatment is working for her?
Update: She's only 1 month old and the doctor said she's too young to know if there's an allergies. Her eye's and face have been swollen but the doc said that's due to eczema. I don't know what to think.
