How is John Proctor innocent? - The Crucible?

"If you were a lawyer defending John Proctor today, what arguments would you make to defend him?"

I need help with this question on my study guide. Can someone list some examples as to why he was innocent

    Back in the times of the actual trials, there was no way to disprove a charge of witchcraft. Today, there is no way to prove a charge of witchcraft. For your project, I suggest you take a look at the basic protections in the US Constitution, particularly Amendments 4, 5, and 6.
