Theme song trivia Nickelodeon?

I'm 38 and when I was a kid I swear Nickelodeon played "Put another nickle in the nickelodeon" as the theme song, or at least played it between shows all the time. Please let me know if you remember, or where I can find videos showing these short skits. Was that the original theme for the channel?

"Nick nick nick nick nick nick nick nick! Nickelodeon!"
