There was already a problem in the Black community before rap music.
I do believe though that society has played a part in the Black communities continuous cycle of poverty. When we look at the Black community, from the founding of the United States, there was already a problem. The Black people of America were slaves. They were taught that education and knowledge was strictly prohibited by their slave masters. Even long after the abbolishent of slavery, the ideology society instilled into the Black community was that "education was a no-no".
This is why I'm all for starting community centers in minority communities. Young children do not dream of becoming drug dealers or criminals. There was a moment in their lives where society had failed them which lead them to that lifestyle. I believe these community centers should be targeted to disenfrachised minority children (5,6,7 years old). These community centers will be able to instill into these children that ALL IS POSSIBLE.
