Is green tea helpful in losing weight?

While many people assume that it is the caffeine content in green tea which is responsible for the weight loss, many of the studies actually point to a powerful antioxidant called EGCg which is found in high concentrations in green tea leaves.

    To fully take advantage of the EGCg though you should consider eating the whole green tea leaf. There is 10,000% more antioxidants in whole leaf green tea than there is in brewed tea. The brewing process just doesn't extract many of the powerful antioxidants so when you throw away your tea bags you're actually throwing away most of the nutrition in green tea leaves.

    Green tea is good at speeding up your metabolism and burning fat as well, but you shouldn't completely depend on it to lose weight. Exercise and eat a balanced diet along with the green tea if you can.
