英文文法問題, 不太明白
很多時都看到有些英文句後面會加多個with, 例如:
I use charcoal to start a fire to barbeque with.
I prefer to use ballpoint pens to write with.
請問為什麼加with, 和這個with在這里有什麼意思呢? thx~

It is a style of writing. Two sentences are combined and words that appear for the second time will be left out."barbecue with " , "write with " are verb collocation = verb + preposition (used together) ; with means "use/using
1. I use charcoal to start a fire. I barbecue with the fire.
I use charcoal to start a fire to barbeque with.
2. I prefer to use ballpoint pens. I write with ballpoint pens.
= I prefer to use ballpoint pens to write with.

Zanon:
with是英文文法上叫介詞(preposition)的, 一般放在動詞後解作 ' 用 ' 的意思。
你可能說你句子開頭已有 use(用) 字, 但這只是巧合, 如下例:
I prefer a ballpen to write with.
I would rather have charcoal to start a fire with.等也是解' 用 ' 的意思。
