Was Roy Orbison blind ?

I'm having a bet with my girl. I say He was blind knowing I'm correct will somebody prove it to her PLEASE

    Sorry, no, but he did have exceptionally poor vision. Your girlfriend wins, as I suspect she usually does.

    Nope - sorry. He had weak eyesight, but the shades were purely for effect.

    The story goes that he left his prescription glasses on a plane one day in 1962, so he had no alternative but to wear his Ray Ban sunglasses for the show that night. He found that he enjoyed performing that way. He was also painfully shy, and the dark glasses helped him overcome his stage fright.

    No but his vision was really bad; he had really thick lenses. And with thick lenses, the stage lights to funny things hence his preference to wear dark glasses while on stage.
