No. But, you need to not eat them in abundance. Carbs are used for energy, you need energy throughout the day. In its simplest terms, after carbs, your body utilizes fat as energy.

If you are trying to still build muscle while losing a bit of fat, then just control carb intake.

    Oats

    Brown Rice

    100% Whole Wheat Bread

    Sweet Potatoes

    Yams

    Whole Wheat Pasta

Don't forget 2-3 servings of fruit a day(earlier in the day, ideally in the morning.

Oh, and fiber rich green vegetables which you should have 3-5times a day and are ok to have even before bed. pce

The best thing to is eat the majority of your carbs early in the morning that way your body uses them for energy throughout the day and also you can alternate days as in eat more carbs on days that you workout and less on days that you don't

NO, god no! man i hate this misconception but NO! you need both carbs and protein if you want to build body weight. albeit this is in relation to how much training and muscle you want to build. don't stop eating various foods because this will just weaken your body and you won't be able to train as well.
