What does Jii-chan mean?
Sorry, I'm trying to get a little Japanese in before I start it in school. What does Jii-chan mean?

It means "Grandfather", however you would only call your own grandfather, "jii-chan". It would be rude to address someone else grandfather as such, you should use "ojii-san".
Secondly, be careful with the spelling because "ji-san" (one less "i") means "uncle" not "grandfather".Source(s): I am a Japanese/English translator.
