    Try these:

CTRL/Numeric - (the - next to the numeric keypad) gets an en-dash.

ALT/CTRL/Numeric - (the - next to the numeric keypad) gets an em-dash

To see these and several other special characters, do this:

    1. Click the Insert->Special Characters menu item.

    2. Click the Special Characters tab.

    Hope that helps.

Press the control button, while holding down, type the minus button on the numeric keypad. If you do not have a numeric keypad, I don't know what to do.

Press and hold down the shift key and press and hold down the _ key at same time until the line is as long as you want. _____________________

In Microsoft Works Word type in the word or words high light them and in tool bar click underline (U) or if need in blank space do the above.
