Depending on how quickly you walk and how busy the streets are, maybe 10-15 minutes.
When you come through the ticket barriers at New Street station, the quickest way is to take the escalators opposite you upstairs to the Pallasades shopping centre, at the top of the escalator turn left, turn left at the end of the corridor, then turn right for the exit. The pedestrianised street running left/right across the end of the exit ramp is New Street (and there's a signpost that says "Symphony Hall 1/2 mile" which sounds about right), Navigation Street (see the map linked below) is the street that runs alongside the ramp and then turns right. Turn left along New Street and walk all the way along it (it's slightly uphill) and you will come to Victoria Square with the Town Hall on the right hand side of the square, on the opposite side of the square from New Street. You should then be able to follow the map to get the walkway to Symphony Hall.
If you can't use the escalator out of New St station, a longer route is to use the main exit out of the station (to the left of the escalators); turn left at the next road (by the Bull Ring shopping centre), cross the railway lines, walk up the ramp and turn left, this brings you to the far end of New Street so walk along it as above.Source(s): http://www.thsh.co.uk/page/planning-your-visit/ http://www.thsh.co.uk/mmlib/includes/sendfile.php?... - map
