is it normal that external otitis infection takes 1 week to heal?

i have this infection since saturday, takin local antibiotics since sunday, the doct just told me i need another visit and maybe stronger antibiotics, but im afraid he just wants more money... and i would try to cure it w olive oil since tomorr, my ear doesnt really hurt but still I feel the noise inside and its a bit blocked, i am takin DEX-OTIC drops

And on what basis do you feel qualified to come to that conclusion? Really, mess with your ear and its going to get you back. Follow the doctors orders.
