In Bioshock, Is there a limit on the amount of security bots you can hack?

In Bioshock, Is there a limit on the amount of security bots you can hack?

I've been setting off the alarm, luring security bots in, hacking them, and then deactivating them.

I hope to collect a legion of them to follow me and do my dirty work.

But some of my tamed security bots are blowing up....

I don't know whether they are blowing up due to a game limit

or

because the other wild security bots are shooting them [my beloved tame bots.]

Please advise...

(Also please say something uniquely identifiable about the game to show proof that you're a bioshock whiz and not some random 'points bounty hunter', who answers despite having no knowledge in the subject.

There's a limit.

But im not sure what to say to prove to you that im not just a Y.A.P. bounty hunter lol ^^... maybe: look out for the Plastered Splicers - they're scary as hell and most of them will spawn behind your back, ready to strike O.o
