If the name on the ACH transaction does not closely match the name on the account the bank will reject the deposit.

I've never known a bank to freeze an account for a single name mismatch but rejection of the transaction is standard procedure.

A bank might freeze an account if a large number of ACH transactions hit with different names on each transaction.

Are you saying that you tried to have someone else's tax refund direct deposited into YOUR account? Yes, that would raise questions.

Sure as more than 2 would be a symptom of fraud.
