All Clad and Calphalon are overrated. All Clad is way too expensive, and Calphalons have a horrible balance. The saute pans are too heavy to actually toss food.
I have a set of Stainless steel pans that are Kenmore from Sears. The handles are silicone, making them a little cooler to the touch. I like their weight, and balance. However, cooking with steel can be tricky, so I would suggest to get something stick resistant. Stay with the Kenmore, but this is something you should pick up and hold. For saute pans, the end opposite the handle shouldn't be too much heavier than the handle end. (The only exception is there is a large one with another handle, this one ignore the weight difference.) Each pot and pan should be relatively easy to handle with one hand, when empty.
Believe it or not, I have a couple pans that are non stick that I bought as open stock (Meaning only one piece) really cheap. They are Mirros, with a soft plastic grip, about 8-10 bucks at Wal-mart or Target. I got them cheap so that is something happened to them, I wouldn't be out a great deal of cash. That was about 10 years ago, and I still use them.
