The whole reason I first stopped eating animal products is because I studied human biology and digestion and determined that humans are 'designed' to eat plant matter -- it's really shockingly obvious. We have little in common with carnivores or omnivores.
My children are vegan from conception, during pregnancy, during birth, after birth, and all the way up to present age. Their pregnancy and birth were actually the easiest, healthiest, and without any problems whatsoever -- much much better than average. We also did a home birth with midwives -- hospitals are no place to bring a new person into the world - filthy places full of sick, diseased, and injured people, not to mention that the doctors go from car accident to delivering a baby. Midwives specialize in birth, they are not on a schedule, they respect and support the parents, the parents make the decisions... well, there's a whole long list of why using midwives and home-birth are the better choice.
Choosing to allow one's own children to make up their own mind on the matter is really a stupid idea. Really. Think about it, "I'm going to feed my children a bad diet and allow them to decide when they are old enough whether or not they want to continue to follow this diet." Children are influenced from a very young age. You need to feed them the best, healthiest, organic, unprocessed food right from the beginning so that they will be healthier. As a result of feeding my children the healthiest best quality food I can manage, they can tell the difference between organic and non-organic food. They don't say, "This is not organic," but rather "I don't like it" and they won't eat it -- from fruit, to crackers, to whatever.
They were breastfed exclusively for the first eight months of their lives, and slowly food was introduced (starting with raw food, then steamed veggies such as turnip) while continuing to breast feed for the next few years until they decided they didn't want to breast feed anymore because they were eating full meals by that time. We didn't give them any processed foods, no salt, sugar, sauces... they didn't need it, everything was new to them and they were enjoying the plain flavour and taste of all the different foods we gave them. And today, they are older, and they go to school and go here and there, and they are constantly being given junk food to eat "Would you like some candy? Chips? Pop? Hot dog?" Adults are constantly presenting kids with junkfood - its the fault of adults that the kids these days are junkfood eaters. They have a table full of junk food... and my kids just go to the fruit and vegetable platter. I don't force them to, they are their own person now, they are just not interested in junk food - they've tried it and it tastes horrible to them - they are not fooled by the salt and sugar and fake flavours because they grew up on *real* food, and real food tastes far better.
My older kid is in gymnastic, swimming, ballet, likes to run, go cycling... when she was 3 years old she was running four laps around the soccer field at the local school along side the grade 7 classes who only ran once or twice around - she passed most of them, and when they stopped, she kept going. She'd do that regularly. For myself, the whole reason I became vegan (I hate that word by the way, as it implies that I'm not just a natural human eating the way humans should eat) for athletic performance. Later I learnt of the other health benefits, environment impact of my food choices, and the whole animal food industry, etc. -- I've just added to my reasons over the years.
No, they are not vaccinated either - evil evil stuff!! - I did a lot of research on vaccination - never do it. Sickens me that evil people are basically ruling over the entire planet right now, we need to stop being so bloody passive about it. And we need to start using our BRAINS and thinking, rather than just believing the propaganda that is force-fed us.
