    Depends I guess, when I was in 4th grade I was getting into the Stephen King and V.C Andrews books but usually kids around that age are still sticking to the more age appropiate books. Some good kid books I remember I used to like when I was little was

    Hatchet - by Gary Paulsen. It's basically about this kid who's being driven on a private plane to see his Mom, the pilot has a heart attack and the plane crashes and the kid has to learn to survive on a island blah blah blah.

    Indian Captive - By Lois Lenski, the books a tad bit long but it was probably one of my favorite books I read when I was little. Its based around in the 1800's when the indian war is going on, and is in the perspective of a 12 yr old girl thats captured by indians. It's based on a true story but the author narrowed it, cutting a lot of the stuff out so it could be considered a kid book lol.

    Twilight Series? - By Stephenie Meyers. My cousin started reading those books when she was in fourth grade I think. ((BLEEEEHHHHHHH!!!!))

    The Doll People - by Ann M. Martin. cute series (:

    And who couldn't forget the Diary Of A Wimpy kid (;

    Roald Dahl books are good, and she might want to try The Babysitters Club.

    You can never go wrong with starting her on new genres. Percy Jackson is great, it is fun and read quickly and infuses fantasy with drama very well.
