What does prt scr/ sysrq do on a keyboard?

I am just wondering what it does. I want to take a picture from a Video on Youtube but I am a little nervous that it might to some damage to my computer. So is it safe to use and what does it do?

    what prt sc does is literally take a pictre of what is on the screen. and if you go on to something like microsoft word and press paste the picture of what was on when you pressed it will come up.

    Prt Scr is the Print Screen key. It will basically take a snap shot of your desktop screen, which you can then paste in a photo editing program like for example, Paint.

    Sysrq part of the key doesn't do anything.
