What does it mean to talk in circles?

    To start making a point in one direction and then by the end of your statement you have almost said the opposite.

    It means that you are avoiding the real question and going out of your way to make a point on something else

    To not make sense or to tell a story that is irrelevant to the conversation and have no beginning or end to it.

    just heard this in a movie yesterday. a very elderly lady said she was talking to a friend who asked her "how old is Harry (her son)". she said she answered "i don't know. how old is Harry?".
